Project 5 of 52 : DIY hexagon wall display

Mr. Mean Wall got the best of me

and i ended up putting my genius idea

in Little Lady's room.

although the large wall in the family room is still bare

i am quite pleased with Little Lady's wall.

i used boxes from here

painted them and mod-podged vintage wallpaper on the lids.

Henry wants to stay in Little Lady's room for awhile.

he enjoys the view

and the company.

now we just need to fill them with treasures and trinkets.

speaking of treasures.

the lovely plaque of the little girl painting

was thrifted a year ago.

when i saw her i just sighed

and thought of Little Lady and her love of all things art
drawing, painting, stickers, markers, etc.

enjoy lovelies.
i'm off to snuggle a very cuddly Bitty Boy
who-can you believe it- is almost 6 months old.

mid-century furniture

i just discovered a shop (Furnish me Vintage)

full of mid-century furniture pieces

and i want to buy them alllll

how can you not love the elegant lines

the clean silhouettes

i could keep posting and posting

but i may pass out.

i just don't know what it is

but 60s furniture ...

could anything be more perfect??

that's what's so amazing about me thrifting the pieces we have.

we got both our bedroom dressers and Little Lady's night stand for $100.

terrific thrift : meet Frederick

Frederick was hiding behind

an assortment of other discarded items.

when i saw him

i knew he needed a good home.

he was feeling very forsaken and unhappy

Frederick enjoys resting on my bedroom dresser
looking out the window.
he loved watching the leaves fall off the trees.
he's rather wistful
and quite whimsy
and has become fast friends with Henry.

Henry is so happy to have a thrifted friend.

oh my, oh my. be still my fluttering heart.

today

Little Lady and i introduced our Bitty Boy

to the wonders of thrifting.

"Sometimes you find a treasure,"

Little Lady told a sleeping Bitty Boy.

we strolled and puttered down the aisles

in search of said treasures.

and our thrifting endeavors were not in vain.

we found these lovely ladies

beneath the piles of forsake wooden squares

in the frame aisle. 

since they are signed H. Hobbie

i like to think

that Miss Holly Hobbie

actually embroidered them herself

the loveliest of self-portraits, if i do say so myself.

i could not believe our luck!

i snatched them up

hugged them close to me for a bit

and laid them in our cart.

Bitty Boy's sleepy coos

confirmed our decision to bring them home.

i love the details on the bonnets

and the detail on her apron and dresses

absolutely beautiful.

Holly Hobbie spent no expense

whilst self-portraiting herself :)

even though we are moving soon

and all our other decorations are packed away

i hung them above Little Lady's bed.

wanted to start enjoying them right away.

Bitty Boy must be a little good luck charm.

lovely thrift : a new couch

so...

i haven't announced it yet

but Handsome Man and i are purchasing a new nest

no longer highly-perched.

a lovely 5 bedroom home

with a fully fenced backyard

a perfect place for Little Lady and Little Man to cause ruckus. 

and since we are going to move into a bigger place

there will be more room

and thus ... obviously ... we need more furniture

[ poor Handsome Man ]

[ he's not a fan of my love of buying/selling furniture ]

so, there i am

wandering around the usual thrift store

when

GASP

i saw her

in all her 60s glory

a non-nauseating floral fabric

very little wear and tear.

she spoke to me

asking me to take her home.

i mentioned Little Lady's craziness

and Little Man's unnatural skills at spitting up and drooling

and Bitty Boy's potential for the same.

she didn't mind

and so i bought her

$30

and she currently resides in my mother-in-law's garage

until we move into our new nest.

i have dreams of covering her with pillows

and throws

and she'll be surrounded by other forsaken souls

like my $2 nightstand that i'm going to refinish

and the comfy retro lazy boy style chair i found for $15.

they shall be a happy little family in our new living room.

lovely thrift : vintage stitch kit

whilst thrifting last weekend

with the lovely "Bodie" (as her nieces and nephews call her)

i happened upon a deliciously vintage stitch kit

i popped it in my cart 

and couldn't wait to get home and get started.

here's my progress:

i almost didn't buy it

but then Bodie said,

"Look! It's Little Lady and Little Man!"

now how could i walk away from that?

i'm so glad i purchased it

[ only $1.00 ]

and have fallen quite in love with embroidery,

as amateur as i am. hehe.

the woes of pearly whites

found these goods whilst pottling

around the thrift store:

deliciously vintage fabric and some rolls of trim.

things around our highly-perched nest

have been rather fussy as of late.

Little Man is cutting FOUR little pearly whites

- yes all four top teeth -

and has been all snuggles, wiggles, and whines.

i feel horrible for him.

despite his predicament

he was all smiles for the photoshoot i had.

surprise photos for the Handsome Man 

upon his return from never never land

Little Lady enjoyed the photo shoot as well. 

though by the end she may or may not

have needed to be bribed with fruit snacks.

upon my desk i have a few little lovelies

that need some stitching

and then they will be perfectly peach

felt finger puppets for a little miss who 

at this moment is calling me away

"i get a cheeto for being nice to you.

can i have it now please?"

lovely thrift : little hutch for a Little Lady

Sniffle and Sneeze have finally departed

however

Mr Gloom remains.

stubborn in his ways

- those chilly breezes and inconsiderate clouds -

despite the grayness of it all

i'm feeling much better

and ready to reenter my creative frenzy.

a few days ago

whilst browsing craigslist for a wooden dollhouse

i happened upon an ad for such a treasure.

i zoomed across town

inspected the goods

and while the dollhouse was much too large for our highly-perched nest

i did adopt a sweet forsaken soul :

 who has made friends with Little Lady's petshops and dishes

i am happy to report that they are all thick as thieves

- perhaps my candy thief is among them, ahem -

Little Lady is quite smitten with her new treasure

 though i'm not sure if her joy

is evident AT ALL in this picture.

sigh.

that girl.

i had some delicious adventures with Trusty Hook yesterday

- inspired by my little sister -

i shall picture it and post soon.

until them, i hope Sniffle and Sneeze do not come your way
