tip top tutorial : DIY crochet granny square No.1

INNER RING
1.  Create your magic ring
[chain 4  +  slip stitch into your starting hole] This forms a small circle.

2.  [chain 2]**  This if your first DC.

3.  In the center of your magic ring complete [11DC].

4.  [slip stitch to the left of **] If you are starting a new color of yarn, tie off here.

POPQUIZ: You should have a circle with 12 rungs.



RING LEVEL I (begin new color)
1.  If you are starting a new color, start yarn in between any rung of DC.

2.  [chain 2**  +  1DC ]  This is your first set of [2DC].

3.  [chain 2]

4.  In between each DC of your inner ring complete
[2DC  +  chain 1].

5.  [slip stitch to the left of **] If you are switching colors of yarn, tie off here.

POPQUIZ: You should have a circle with 12 rungs of [2DC] with a [chain 1] in between each.





RING LEVEL II (begin new color)
1.  If you are starting a new color, start yarn in a hole created by a [chain 1] of ring level I, in between any set of [2DC].

2.  [chain 2  +  1DC]**  This is your first set of 2DC.

3.  [chain 1]

4.  In each hole created from the [chain 1] of ring level I, complete [2DC  +  chain 1].

5.  [slip stitch to the left of **] If you are starting a new color yarn, tie off here.

POPQUIZ: Your circle should have 12 rungs of [2DC] with a [chain 1] in between each.



OUTER RING (being new color)
1.  If you are starting a new color, start new yarn in the hold created by a [chain 1] of ring level II, in between any set of [2DC].

2.  [chain 2  +  2DC]**  This is your first side-set of [3DC].

3.  In the next hole created by a [chain 1] of ring level I, complete your second side-set of [3DC].

4. In the next hole complete your first corner-set of [3DC  +  chain 2  +  3DC]

5.  In each of the holes created by [chain 1], alternate between 2 side-sets and 1 corner-set until you reach the beginning.

6.  At the start [slip stitch to the left of **] and tie off.

POPQUIZ: You should have a square with a total of 4 corner-sets (of 3DC  +  chain 2  +  3DC) and 8 side-sets (of 3DC). There should be 2 side-sets in between each corner-set.
